Each and every outdoor lighting system we design and install begins with an assessment of your existing electric supply. We inspect and test the subject outdoor electrical outlets for safety, voltage and overall integrity. Once a design is well in hand, we will position and install one or more compact electrical transformers as required to reduce your “line voltage” from 120 volts, to “low voltage” 12 volts to provide the correct amount of electric power to your lighting fixtures.

We strongly recommend the facilitation of a self-adjusting astronomic timer to be integrated into your transformer(s) to regulate and control sunset lights on, and sunrise lights off, 365 days a year.

All electric connections both above and below ground shall be made utilizing a dielectric grease to prevent corrosion, moisture and wicking, that can and will compromise the integrity of your lighting system over time.

A high quality virgin plastic, low voltage wire, designed for below ground installation shall be buried at a minimum depth of ten inches.  The appropriate and required gauge shall be used to ensure adequate amperes, wattage and joules.

We offer a wide variety of low voltage, high output L.E.D weather resistant lighting fixtures and lamps constructed from brass, copper and other available alloys, designed to stand the test of time and provide you with a magnificent illumination of your home, business and or landscaping, by the manipulation of both light and shade.

Upon completion of installation, we test and confirm that all fixtures are within the proper voltage window, and that all transformers are within the proper amperage load.

Question:

Do LED lights attract flying insects (mosquitoes) carrying Zika virus and West Nile Encephalitus?

Answer:

27k (2700 Kelvin - warm white led lights do not attract many bugs)
There are 3 major categories for LED color known as the CRI (color rendering index);
Warm White 27k - 2700 Kelvins  (Low Level Brightness)
Neutral White 30k - 3000 Kelvins (Bright)
Cool White 50k - 5000 Kelvins (Brightest)

*warm white "has very little attraction for bugs"!!!
*neutral and cool white do in fact attract bugs, but far less than conventional halogen, florescent and incandescent.

We Feature New, Energy Saving, Bug Repelling, Long Life, LED LIGHTING!

Long Island Outdoor Lighting Designs features energy saving, long life, bug repelling, revolutionary L.E.D. lighting systems
L.E.D. (light emitting diode) fixtures and lamps do not generate or emit heat; the lamps are rated for 25,000 hours
L.E.D. lamps and fixtures offer an energy savings of approx. 85% of the cost of conventional lighting*
L.E.D. lamps and fixtures attract approx. 75% less bugs at 27k (color rendering index-warm white)

*Conventional lighting, utilizing florescent, halogen, quartz, incandescent lamps generate dangerous amounts of heat, require high voltage, high amperage energy, require frequent replacement of bulbs, and attract insects, including mosquitoes potentially carrying the Zika and West Nile encephalitis viruses!

We also offer a one of kind incentive:

Upon setting up an estimate - we will arrange for a demo kit to be placed on your property. This way you can enjoy how the final installation will look on your property.
